Food supplement with botanical extracts
We all love a good cup of tea. We’ve consumed green tea for centuries, after all, and it’s an important part of cultures across the globe. It’s been adored and consumed around the world since the dawn of time, bringing people together, or tearing friendships apart, separating those who put the milk in first from those who make tea properly – that’s right, we said it. What you might not know, however, is that whether you drink it black, like it green, or go a little more exotic and pick up a pack of Oolong, your tea all comes from the same plant; Camellia sinensis. The people of China and India have made use of these leaves for centuries, taking advantage of the benefits they bring. We figured they must be on to something; our Pharmanex® Tēgreen food supplement contains a green tea extract taken from these leaves, bringing all the goodness of green tea antioxidants directly to you. Deep down, green tea is pretty complex. Its leaves contain antioxidants which contribute to the protection of your cells from oxidative stress (*).
The story of free radicals and antioxidants
Biologically relevant molecules of the human body can be exposed to reactive free radicals, generated in our biochemical processes and as a consequence of exposure to environmental factors like pollution. Left to their own devices, these reactive free radicals can cause oxidative stress to cells and tissue. Free radical scavengers, components like antioxidant nutrients, give a little help in protecting our cells from the effects of oxidative stress.
